Greenland Pilot – Sailing Directions for West Greenland covers Greenland's west coast from Nunap Isua (Kap Farvel) to Kap Morris Jesup and provides guidance on navigation in the waters off the west coast of Greenland, including navigation in-shore and in the fjords.

From paper to digital
The new digital pilot is based on the earlier printed version of the same document from 1966, which is now cancelled. The Danish Geodata Agency has also updated the new version with information from survey vessels, state institutions, merchant ships and people with local knowledge etc.

In Danish and English
The Greenlandic sailing directions are also published in a Danish version under the title: Den grønlandske Lods – Sejladsanvisninger Vestgrønland . Thus, sailing directions for both East and West Greenland are now available in a Danish and English version.

Guide to navigational charts
Behind the Nautical Chart - Surveying, reliability and use, 3rd edition is a tool for understanding the survey basis, structure, content and reliability of the charts. The internet publication describes the methods for gathering hydrographic data that have been used over time to gather survey data for the production of navigational charts.

New source references
Until now, paper charts from the Danish Geodata Agency have been provided with source references, either described in the title field or in the form of a source diagram showing the period of years within which a particular area has been surveyed. In future, the agency will endeavour to provide new versions of paper charts with source references in the form of Zones of Confidence (ZOC) category and diagram. Paper chart users can find information about the ZOC category and diagram in section 10.2 of Behind the Nautical Chart.
