On 1st January 2020, the Faroe Islands took over responsibility for nautical chart planning. Since the Faroe Islands only took over the charting in the civilian area, the Danish Geodata Agency (DGA) has continued to be responsible for the charting, related to foreign-, defense- and security policy affairs.

This means that DGA continues to be responsible for publishing INT charts, just as DGA continues to produce territorial boundary charts and provides the Danish Defense with charts and data in the waters around the Faroe Islands.

In order to create a clear legal basis for the DGA to carry out these tasks, the Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities has just signed a decree for the Faroe Islands on the assignment of powers to the DGA.
