Dynamic Navigation ÖKS brings together public authorities, research institutions and companies from Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland to advance the development of digital navigation for the future. The project runs from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2029 and is led by the Swedish Maritime Administration (Sjöfartsverket). The total project budget is approximately EUR 5.4 million, of which just under EUR 2.85 million is provided by the EU through the Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak programme.
S-100 to support the future of navigation
The project is based on the international S-100 framework and the new digital navigation services it enables. These services can include detailed information on depth conditions as well as dynamic data on water levels, surface currents and navigational warnings. The aim is to examine how this information can be produced, quality assured, distributed and used coherently in vessels’ navigation systems.
The Öresund, Kattegat and Skagerrak form a strategically important and navigationally complex maritime region with extensive cross-border shipping traffic. The project will therefore contribute to building shared regional capacity and creating better conditions for introducing coordinated digital navigation services into regular operations.
Danish Geodata Agency contributes to joint solutions
As Denmark’s hydrographic authority, the Danish Geodata Agency contributes to the project’s work on marine geodata and digital navigation services.

The development of S-100-based services requires close cooperation across national borders if we are to create coherent solutions for shipping in our shared waters,” says Allan Idd Jensen, Head of Nautical Charts and Systems at the Danish Geodata Agency.
In addition to the Danish Geodata Agency and the Swedish Maritime Administration, the project partners are the Danish Emergency Management Agency (DK), the Norwegian Mapping Authority (NO), Chalmers University of Technology (SE), Digital Maritime Consultancy ApS (DK), Furuno Finland Oy (FI), Port of Aalborg Logistics A/S (DK), RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB (SE) and the Norwegian Coastal Administration (NO).
